Embarrassing Experience #2 this School Year
So many of you will not get this if you are not the type to squirm at the site of blood, but for those of you who do, you'll get me. My students are just finishing up their MCA tests today, so I make the most of this free time and read usually. Today, I picked up a student's book club book titled, "Cut." If you've ever watched the movie, "Girl Interrupted" this is the scene of the book. Girls are in the mental ward for various reasons, one being that many of them cut themselves..wrists, arms etc. for the rush. I am happily reading along when all of a sudden the main character begins one of her cutting sessions. The detail of it makes me nauseous, so I stand up, dropping my book on my desk, trying to think of something, anything else but blood at this moment. I notice that the light on my school phone is blinking that I have a message, so I walk a few feet over to it, hoping to distract myself with that. As I lift the receiver to my ear, I am biting my mouth together to keep from pucking..and all of a sudden everything is dreamlike and them black. Now I am dreaming and there are kids calling to me...there is a buzzing, popping noise and for sure someone is talking to me. Yes. I had fainted in front of the class in the middle of their testing. I had hit my head on my computer and then on my desk on the way down, spilling coffee all over my desk, but luckily no real harm was done except for the embarrassment on my part that I can't handle reading an 8th grade level book without falling on the floor. I am a woose. I'll admit it. And to think my mom always thought I'd make a great nurse!

Oh my goodness Jessica! I almost peed my pants laughing at your blog... I'm glad you're okay! I have a very good mental picture of how it all went down! I've been laughing so hard I actually have tears of laughter rolling down my cheeks! I totally understand the squeamish thing! :) -Bobby D.
Thanks for "getting" me on this one, Bobby D. Haha... I felt like such a pansey. The school nurse was perplexed that someone could faint just from reading. I don't think he even believed me at first!
