Flight 93

I can't remember the exact title of this movie (Even though I just watched it last night) and I still am not quite sure how I feel about it. I went last night with a college buddy to see this movie. It had not been my first pick but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Now, some of you know that I taught last year in Bloomington, working in the position of the niece of Thomas Burnett who was one of the brave men of flight 93 that stood up against the terrorist and entered the cockpit to crash the plane in a field vs. the intended Presidential White House. I have heard the story over and over and read everything about this flight of nine-eleven. This was the only flight not to have met its targeted destination. The movie was realistic and very emotional.

There were only 8 people in the theatre including us, if that is any indication of who's interested film. I didn't know anyone personally who was killed or injured that day and so maybe that allowed me the ability to watch this movie.

I kept wondering if it was right to even make a movie about this horrible event and concluded that if it was to respect and remember the brave men and women who died (which I think was the point of the movie) then it was alright. But if it was to make money (which I hope not), they failed.

I recommend the movie and would show it (minus the cursing...they say Jesus' name quite often) to my classroom in conjunction with a unit on citizenship and courage. It's a movie that causes one to appreciate the lives we have and the lives of those we love around us. Life is short and can end so suddenly. I want to remember that thought everyday so that I look at people around me through eyes of gratitude and love.

Nice new format! I have heard that the makers of the movie asked permission from every family to do the movie and they made it to keep the memory alive. I don't know if I want to see it though.

New format - does this mean you're going to blog more often??

Haha...quite possibly! I'll try at least. I won't have much of an excuse if I don't as school will be out in a few days!

This is from Voges by the way. I have been wanting to see that moving and the new moving come out with Nicolas Cage (based off of the true story of firemen who servived the twin towers falling). I am glad you say it and shared you thoughts and feelings. I may see them by myself in the middle of the day so I can really prosses them. I know I will be emotionally moved and cry. Thanks again Jess!!!
