Twins Game

We love sports. Yes, we do. When I was able to get good tickets to yesterday's Twin's game, Mike and I were pretty excited. The Twin's were playing the Tigers, which doesn't mean much in this story, but still for those who would care...now we are sitting in the upper deck 4th row right behind home plate. It's about the 4th inning and Mike and I are enjoying not only the great game (it was a close one) but the crowd around us. I go partly just for the entertainment of people watching...you've got the young party girls who are just there for the excuse of getting drunk so they can show up to their next event ready to "party". You've got the man to the right of us, outfitted in complete Twin's attire, who thinks the players in the outfield can actually hear his enthusiastic instructions and insults. You've got the chatty couple sitting directly behind, who I now know more about then some of my close friends' personal lives. Anyway, back to the game. I was leaning over to ask Mike something and he turned to look at me. In that moment, of all moments we both hear, "Look out!" A white blur is whirling toward us at somewhere around 90 miles an hour! I duck so I don't know what Mike was doing....I'm guessing he was trying not to look like he was in pain...for the ball smacked him on the right thigh and then bounced a few seats away to land in some other, more prepared man's hands. We were pretty excited (and Mike a little sore) after that and ready for any more fouls in our direction but of course when you're sitting there ready with your glove...nothing's coming to you. All together it was a fun experience. The Twin's won the game in the bottom of the 9th by one smooth maneuver...by some guy on the Twin's team...How do you like that for commentary? (The last time I could actually name all the Twin's players was when I was 12 years old and actually collected their baseball cards. I'm telling you as my grandchildren's only inheritance from me, those cards had better be worth some money someday.)

I finished it! That was my goal..timing wasn't even a factor for me this year. Next year, I'll try to race to beat my time. I thought I was going to die the last 2 miles...but surprisingly my body kept going until the end. See you tonight, maybe.
