Grrrrr................Why Having A Christmas Tree is More Work Than Owning a Pet

This hating of the Christmas trees has never been a problem before for me... not until Mike and I tried to have one of our own. Seriously, you have to water it every day after actually getting it to stay upright...key word...try....try to get it to stay upright...ok fine...give up and let it lay down in the middle of your living room and then cry for awhile after rattling off every curse word you can think of (only in your head of course...since that seems less of a sin)
Yes, I admit, the tree has defeated us. We with the help of a dear friend (Amy V.) we took it out to the backyard cemetery a few weeks before it's time. It didn't even last until Christmas. Call us quitters...frankly I don't give a hoot..becuase I was not about to decorate that beast for the 3 time simply because it kept getting tired and preferred the rug to standing upright. Shop-vac-ing needles, sap, and water for the umpteenth time was getting old! Plus I was counting on at least having a few reusable ornaments for the upcoming years.
So Mike and I have had an interesting first Christmas tree that lasted just under 2 weeks. Maybe we'll try again next year...but more than likely we'll be spraying the pine-scented fresheners and gazing lovingly at our artificial and small yet sturdy tree like normal people do.

Oh no! Jes, I am so sorry! You tried, girl, and that's more than a lot of people do. Any fake trees, they aren't bad! Get a nice candle and all is well.

Thinking of you today!
