Blessings

This winter I have struggled with more negative feelings than usual like boredom, sadness, and even times of mild depression. I don't know what from...but what seems to snap me out of it fairly quickly is thankfulness. Yeah, my brother's words, "Quit complaining and think of something to be thankful for." still pop into my mind when I get into a "funk". I am not really down right now, but still wanted to share a list of things I am so thankful for because darn it, it's just good to do. So here it goes...

  • God's salvation, love and forgiveness
  • Love and friendship of my family
  • Mike...everything he is to me
  • My job or better..God's provision through whatever job I have
  • Dear friends...many I don't see often enough...but I love you all!
  • Good health
  • The many times I've been guarded from harm
  • Money to pay for those speeding tickets
  • A day off of school with yesterday's snow storm
  • A newer car so that I don't have to be humiliated by the rusty old beast I used to have...but also was thankful at the time to have....;)
  • That I don't have to pay in more than $100 this year in taxes.
  • Fun surprises from friends...rebates I forgot about that just came in the mail, you know...
  • Great books
  • Get-away weekends
  • Movies,Popcorn and rainy nights
  • The sunshine...oh how I love the sun!
  • Understanding and compassion when it is not deserved
  • The grace to get through presenting to colleagues and not visibly sweating
  • White hairs....um...I'm still working on why I'd be thankful for this one
  • How about hair dye..Yes..I am thankful for that. It's sad really that I am 27 and thankful for hair dye...but I am.

There are many more things, but this will do for now. I just want to make sure that I give thanks where it is due. I would not be able to stand alone in this life and God has been and is so good to me.

You're so right! It's so easy to get down and depressed, but we truly are blessed, aren't we? It's sad that it seems to come natural to complain and not to give thanks. I'm thankful for you, Jess!!!
